The focus at UltraSports Massage Therapy is in soft tissue injury rehabilitation using Myofascial Sports Massage, Structural Integration, various stretching techniques and the Kinesio Taping® Method. You may have seen the UltraSports Massage Team in the massage tent at the Ironman World Championship 70.3, at the Gasparilla Distance Classic, at the St. Anthony’s Triathlon or at one of the many other Tampa area sporting events. The licensed massage therapists on the UltraSports Massage Team are familiar with the treatment of many common sports injuries and conditions.
The owner, Pete Pfannerstill, PhD, LMT, BCTMB (FL Lic.# MA24089) has been a licensed sports massage therapist since 1997. He is an active member in the American Massage Therapy Association and is Board Certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).
Pete is a continuing education provider, approved by the State of Florida (#50-2081) and the NCBTMB (#386613-00), teaching sports massage courses.
Pete was selected by the 2004 Athens Health Services Sports Massage Team for the Athens Olympic Games. He is a Level 2 Olympic Sports Massage Therapist in the USOC Volunteer Sports Medicine Program. From 1999-2007, he worked as a massage therapist for a local Major League Baseball team.
On a personal note, Pete is an experienced ultramarathon runner with over 40 marathons and ultramarathons to his credit including the 2000 Vermont 100 Mile Endurance Run (PR 23:30) and the 1995 St. George (Utah) Marathon (PR 3:13:12).
